The $5 Arduino lamp
Students wire up a transistor, a resistor and an Arduino to control a 220V bulb. First brush with power electronics — and the moment the lamp lit, everyone cheered.
SonzaSpark is a hands-on STEM program for curious young makers — robotics, coding, 3D printing, electronics and fabrication. Students design, build, test, and ship real projects.
Not slides. Not simulations. Real circuits, real robots, real presentations — made by learners aged 8 to 18 in SonzaSpark classes, bootcamps and school clubs.

Learners prototype circuits in Tinkercad on real laptops, then build the same thing in hardware. Catching bugs on screen is cheaper than catching them on fingers.
Students build model structures and live demos for the public at Nane Nane and school exhibitions. Learning to explain the work is half the lesson.
Every SonzaSpark learner moves between these areas as they grow — from making their first LED blink to shipping a project that solves a real-world problem.
Motors, sensors, chassis, microcontrollers. Autonomous robots that avoid obstacles, follow lines, or deliver things across the room.
Scratch for the youngest, micro:bit block-code in the middle, Arduino C and Python for older students. Loops, logic, and small games.
Design in Tinkercad, slice in Cura, print in PLA. Students make keychains, phone stands, replacement parts, and their own toys.
LEDs, breadboards, Arduino, sensors, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi. Smart lights, motion alarms, and devices that talk to a phone.
Woodwork, cardboard engineering, laser engraving, and simple manufacturing. The physical half of every project.
Pitching your project, working in a team, debugging under pressure, and explaining what you built to a parent, a peer, or a judge.
The program is designed to meet students wherever they already are — at home on weekends, at school during term, out in the community during school holidays, and online for everyone else.
Term-long cohorts, Saturdays or Sundays. Students move through beginner → intermediate → advanced robotics over three cycles.
Intensive 1–6 week programs during school breaks. Robotics, 3D printing, IoT and innovation challenges.
Weekly in-school clubs — Robotics, Coding, Girls in STEM, 3D Design, Smart Agriculture. SonzaSpark brings the curriculum, kits and facilitators.
Self-paced courses on our LMS, live workshops over video, and open communities on HyracHub — for learners anywhere in the world.
Laptops, projectors, robotics kits and 3D printers packed into a travelling lab — reaching schools and communities that can't come to a center.
We train teachers to run their own STEM clubs inside their schools — the fastest way for the program to scale beyond our direct trainers.
Every cohort ends with a demo day — students pitch and demo their builds to parents, teachers, and sometimes press.
SonzaSpark is developed by HyracTech and delivered in each country by a local education partner — the people who know the schools, the parents, and the language.
Pilot and ongoing delivery across Tanzania, from the first class in Arusha, June 2025, through 2026 school outreach.
SonzaSpark is a global STEM program designed by HyracTech. In each country where it operates, a local education partner handles delivery — the schools, the parents, the facilitators, the language. In Tanzania, that partner is Afriqo E-Learning Tanzania.
A school curious about hosting a STEM club. A sponsor interested in reaching more young builders. A country partner who wants to bring SonzaSpark to new schools. Reach out — we'll respond.
